Leadership of Ikwo Noyo Youths Consultive Forum has frowned at the unprofessional display of the road maintenance agency, handling the ongoing road rehabilitation along Ezeoffia Enyibichiri Alike and Ndiegu Echara axis. Forum President General, Dr Nwankwo Onyechi who confirmed the indiscriminate heaping of chippings at the middle of the roads, berated the Contractor for such unprofessional and uncoordinated act.
So irritative, that reckless heaping of the chippings on the road without official cautious sign has caused not less 4 dangerous episodes of accidents within 24hours.
Several victims has been moved to traditional fracture attendant cum bone setters while one, Mr Ebonyi Augustine of Eleke Echara who’s severely injured was sent to Rural Improvement Mission (RIM) hospital Ndiegu Echara, where he was resuscitated being assessed to have sustained severe head injury and fracture of the hand. He was thereafter referred to AE-FUTHA for specialist review and takeover of management, hoping his life will be sustained.
On the above backdrop, INYCF President had to immediately reach out to the Forum’s Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Igwe Chukwudi Clement who doubles as the Youth President of Okpera Ndiegu Echara. Mr president alongside the Director, embarked on scene evaluation so as to gathered pictorial evidences.
Having confirmed such irrational cum unprofessional display, Mr President challenged the workers to immediately unpack the chippings from the road and to also take the responsibility of sorting hospital bills of the victims, especially the one with severe head injury. The workers were visibly restless on seeing the fierceness of INYCF leadership with spontaneous steps been implemented, coupled with quick intervention of Eche Chimezie, who had to reach out to their overall Boss. The Boss had to order immediate removal of all those heaped chippings within the affected areas and as well paid a supportive fund to the Forum’s account as prescribed and insisted by Mr President. Irrespective of the intense apologies from the management, Mr President emphasized that, the fund is to alleviate or downsize the hospital bills of the victim.
This morning Mr president, Dr.Nwankwo Onyechi, Forum Secretary, Ogene Oyibe, PhD*m, Assistant Secretary, Pastor Williams Chukwu and Publicity Secretary 1, Alegu Mmaduabuchi Collins went to the hospital and hand over the cheque to him in order to augment their financial base.
People should stop taking our hospitality and quietness for granted, if you have reasons to do any official or whatever assignment, ensure you do it with due diligence and according to the ethics of that profession. Let there be caution sign; (eg caution sign ☢️ on any dumpings or obstructions on or by the roadside) than thinking that nobody will ask questions. NO, Somebody definitely will!
